In the company’s many years of operation, a policy of safe working practice has always been at the forefront. At 123v, ensuring the safety of our customers, employees and the general public is an essential part of every carport and canopy installation. Our fitting teams work across diverse environments but the company operates strictly under the grounding principles of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
Where necessary, 123v also provides training and refresher courses for our staff, particularly when new work practices or equipment are introduced. The continual training and certification programmes also enable our installation teams to work at schools, construction sites and homes. As well as this, we conduct periodic assessments of vehicles, equipment and tools to ensure they are in good condition, fit for purpose and regularly maintained. We have a fleet of eight long wheelbase Mercedes Sprinter vans used by our fitting teams throughout the UK to transport men, materials and all the necessary tools to the installation sites. All our vehicles are fitted with trackers and employee driving performance is continually monitored. Installation sites are varied and consideration for the particular environment is an essential part of our work.
In domestic situations where a carport or patio canopy is to be installed, simple precautions and preparations prior to commencing work can go a long way to keeping everyone safe.
Our canopy and carport installation teams will often request customers to remain indoors whilst works are ongoing. As beams are unloaded, material is cut and large roof sheeting panels are being passed around, it’s best to keep all non-essential personnel in a safe place.
Drilling into walls and cutting material sections will produce dust and debris and short bursts of very loud noise. Our fitting teams wear masks and protective equipment to protect their breathing, eyes and if necessary, ears. Heavy duty drills, saws and other equipment used by our fitting teams have the potential to cause severe injury if used incorrectly.
All our staff are fully trained in the care and safe use of equipment and the company operates an ongoing inspection policy to guarantee that damaged or worn equipment is immediately replaced by our suppliers. We never use sub-standard tools as these are, for obvious reasons, far less reliable and therefore not as safe.
