Nursery, Primary and Secondary School Shelters in the UK

School Shelters

School shelters provide long-lasting shelter for educational facilities across the UK, such as nursery schools, primary schools and secondary schools. 123v school canopies shelter ground underfoot and can be fitted to shield playgrounds, outside classrooms, parent waiting areas, outdoor workshops and walkways.

Buy a safe product

The right product choice will make a big difference. Consider an optimally manufactured school shelter by 123v’s expert teams. The design, materials, and installation are all important components to ensure a top quality outcome. Above all other considerations, as always with 123v plc, safety is paramount. We supply and fit school shelters all over the UK; every installation is built to last, taking into account the wind and snow loadings for the school’s location. A Google search for collapsed canopies shows potential problems when an installation is not completed to the highest standard. The safety of the school pupils, staff and visitors is our number one priority.

What protection will we get?

Protection, after all, is the overriding reason for buying a school shelter. Subject to the protection requirements, site location and budget, we will design a school canopy that can fulfil as many protection factors as needed. These include reinforced materials to offset impact from rain, UV light, snow, frost and wind. Careful consideration has to be taken in relation to wind, a greater projection or width may be required (where applicable) and/or a side protection screen may be added to stop wind driving under the structure. On many occasions we have recommended a school shelter with posts, as opposed to a cantilever canopy, due to the difference in weather protection. We do offer a full range of cantilever and posted shelters and, after a survey, we will present recommendations for your consideration.

Product appearance

As with all 123v products, it is only right that, on top of practicality, the finished structure complements existing building layouts. Our designers will work with you to produce something that suits the school, for instance, we supply school canopies in a full range of colours to suit your application. We do not build wooden shelters due to maintenance requirements, instead, our products simply require minimal upkeep. We have, on occasion, fitted multi-coloured outside aluminium school shelters to brighten up an otherwise dull area.

Health and safety

Our fitters are CRB checked, work with method statements and risk assessments including COSHH assessments. 123v plc are CHAS accredited contractors and hold a BS OHSAS 18001:2007 certificate for occupational health and safety management system. During the design, manufacture and installation of all school shelters we use, and adhere to, these systems.

School shelters for sale

The cost of a school shelter varies due to a number of factors. Listed below are some of the items that will affect the canopy price:

  • The overall size, including the height of the shelter.
  • The site location, which will determine the loadings required for wind and snow.
  • Whether GRP roofing or a glass roof is required.
  • Standard or a bespoke RAL colour.
  • Whether attached to an existing structure or freestanding.
  • Cantilever or with posts.

Do I need planning permission?

School shelters and school canopies do constitute development. Planning permission and/or building regulations may be required by law. Get in touch with 123v and we can assist with these formalities. We have experience in acquiring the relevant licensing for schools and nurseries all over the UK. The process will be carried out properly, so as to comply with all required legislation. It is advisable to be wary of fitters who install custom canopies without the required permissions; it is the school that is left to deal with any future difficulties.

How do we move forward?

Firstly, we need to visit the proposed site. After consultation we will come up with a design to your suit your requirements and budget. A project may need to be planned for parent waiting shelters, buggy shelters or any other design of school canopies. The details will be sent to our head office for evaluation, after which we will send you an estimate along with the structural calculations, including wind and snow loadings, based on your site location and canopy shelter size. Should you decide to place an order with us, then these loadings will assure you that your school shelter will be safe, fit for purpose and designed specifically for your school or nursery site location. A 123v school shelter is built to last, it will prove to be of great benefit to your school.
